Where does Pollmeier get logs from? Does the large cutting capacity have a negative impact on forests. |

The special cutting technique only creates horizontal and semi-horizontal tree rings. This is usually the case with blockboards: the boards often tend to bend and have poor wood stability. Anyway, can I still use Pollmeier beech for my products without any concern? |

Pollmeier beech is pre-sanded on both sides. Does the sawdust affect the durability of my tools? |
In this case, we can calm you: the cylinder sanding facility we developed ourselves is the main benefit of the Pollmeier production chain. An exhaustion after sanding prevents the sawdust from remaining on the boards.
Satisfied customers are our best proof: even processors who handle large volumes of Pollmeier beech report no negative effects on the durability of their tools.
Moreover, we can also affirm this scientifically: an independent certificate from the University of Hamburg excludes abrasive band remnants on the boards.

Why is the wood pre-sanded at all? This has no advantages for my production. |

Pollmeier calculations are based on the KD measurement, but the board thickness decreases during sanding. Does this mean I am paying for wood which I do not receive in the end? |
KD measurements match the standard cutting thicknesses that you know from your suppliers today, but consider: traditional lumber will then be trimmed - the chipping is collected as wastage into your silo. "Trimming" is an essential step in the working process.
At Pollmeier the boards are calibrated during pre-sanding and therefore "trimmed industrially". This step is carried out much more cost-effectively due to our fully automated mass production. This means that you save valuable working hours. We simply calculate the material loss for you. The supplied board thickness, however, is then dimensionally stable and can be used to its full extent.
For example: in order to produce a step of a stair with an final thickness of 42mm, a stair producer should use timber with a calculated measurement of up to 55mm. At Pollmeier the calculated measurement would also be 52mm - supplied as 48.5mm thickness (after pre-sanding)- but can be used totally, due to calibration. This means that the final thicknesses of up to 45mm can be produced.
In addition, pre-sanding is a basic prerequisite for our precise grading: only in this way can wood defects and colours be discovered. (see this question also).

Is each board measured individually? |
In order to be more precise and efficient, we do not measure boards individually but convert the entire weight of the package into volume in m3. This formula pays attention to the specific weight of the wood at its moisture content of 7-9%.

Where can I obtain your wood from? What is the minimum purchase volume? |

Can I get other types of wood at Pollmeier's well-known standard? |
Currently we only cut beech.
Focusing on only one type of wood has made us market leaders within a short period of time. You profit from the extensive know-how that we have gained over the years in specializing in one type of wood. Furthermore, the focusing on only a small amount of standardised products enables efficient industrial production: good wood at good prices!
