| In Germany sustainable utilization of the forests has been the standard for over 200 years. Back then, sustainability was defined in a way that only the amount of wood should be taken out of the forests that could grow again. This should secure the wood supply of the next generations.
However, in today’s forestry this basic idea of sustainability has been expanded, placing major priority on protection of nature and the environment next to mere timber production. Forests have gained a lot in importance as popular destinations for excursions and as areas for recreation.
Due to these differing interests, forest cultivation has to fulfil the requirements of logging, environmental protection and recreation.
Pollmeier timber purchasing.
To ensure a continuous availability, we close preliminary contracts with our suppliers, define the types of timber and agree on prices and delivery dates. We offer new suppliers the opportunity of inspecting the forests together with us before concluding the contracts.
The logs are taken over by Pollmeier purchaser directly in the forest, where each log is evaluated separately.
After this Pollmeier immediately issues a credit note for the purchased timber.
A rapid transfer of the timber to our facilities is given maximum priority. This ensures a processing of the beech wood without losses in quality and preserve it professionally in wet storage facilities as quickly as possible.
Pollmeier has specialized in processing beech timber with medium (quality class C) and low qualities. This allows our suppliers greater freedom in forestry operations.
Today we create the basis for future generations to have healthy forests and high quality timber.
