Face layers

General description
Face layers are the high end of Pollmeier products. The face layers are defect free on 4-sides and edged absolutely parallel due to cutting at the rib saw after drying. The surface is completely sanded and doesn’t contain “hit and miss” or sawing marks. All kind of splits and cracks etc. are not allowed. All defects due to fungi or insect decay are not allowed. Only sound lumber is used. Colour defects due to steaming or drying are not allowed.

Assorting A
Description: the top choice of the Pollmeier Face layers, almost without any defects; only small, sound knots (max. diameter 5mm ) are allowed. The lumber is even in colour and contains no kind of discolouration.
Allowed are: Pin knots (1-2mm in diameter) and some mineral spots.
Not allowed are: sapwood and all other kind of discolouration, mechanical defects, black knots and bark inlets.

Assorting B
Description: The choice for those who want to see the natural richness of Oak lumber and who like a roustique effect. The choice is characterized by its slight natural variation due to colour and knots.
Allowed are: Sound knots until a diameter of 30mm, some black knots up to 15mm in diameter and open knots until 10mm, open spaces or bark inlets until 50mm in length and max. 3mm in width, groupings of pin-knots, small black knots and open spaces without limitation, when spread over the whole surface.
Not allowed are: sapwood, mechanical defects, rotten lumber, not sound lumber, technical colour defects.

Assorting C
This choice is characterized by it´s great colour variation. Therefore the choice is very rustique and diversified.
Allowed are: All sound knots, black knots up 20mm, open knots up to 15mm open spaces, heart centre, max 25% sapwood, etc.
Not allowed are: mechanical defects, rotten lumber, not sound lumber, colour defects through round-wood storage or drying.
