The corporate headquarters, the laminated veneer lumber factory and the main plant of the Pollmeier sawmills group are located on a 45-hectar site just outside the Medieval town of Creuzburg in Thuringia.
At Creuzburg, Pollmeier employs around 580 people. Apart from the sawmill with a sawing capacity of 325,000 solid cubic metres per year, and the laminated veneer lumber plant, there is a wet storage area extending over 900 by 100 metres that can hold 160,000 solid cubic metres of beech lumber. The administration and sales departments are housed in a modern office building. Right beside it, Pollmeier has a guest house for visitors and a private 3-hectar park designed by the Belgian landscape architect Peter Wirtz. The park is very popular with employees and the local community alike.
More than 85 per cent of the beech logs for the Creuzburg factory are harvested in local forests within a 150 km radius from the sawmill.
